Today we are combining the two elements line and shape to doodle in a new way!
One of my favorite things about doodles is that they can be done anywhere…. on your notes in a meeting, on the grocery list or on sticky notes!

For this challenge, we were inspired by mandalas. Mandalas have intricate patterns as they repeat shapes that make up a circle.
“The word “mandala” is from the classical Indian language of Sanskrit. Loosely translated to mean “circle,” a mandala is far more than a simple shape.” The Mandala Project
Now, don’t get imitated by the mandala!
We are doing a doodle version inspired by the mandala. No need for perfection or perfect circles!
Remember, there is no wrong way to doodle!
Materials:
- Sticky Notes
- Markers
- Metallic Permanent Markers (optional)
Step 1: Draw a small shape in the middle of your sticky note.
Step 2: Draw a copycat line around the first shape. Repeat until the sticky note is filled.
Step 3: Add color.
Step 4: With a black marker add more pattern with lines and shapes.
Step 5: Add even more pattern with a metallic marker. This step is optional but fun!
Arrange your sticky notes on the wall or fridge to create a mini-gallery of your doodles!
Even my two-year-old got in on the action! Check out our family doodles below. 🙂
