Easy Easter Craft for Kids with Colored Rice

Easy Easter Craft for Kids

This was our first colored rice activity and it won’t be our last! Both Lil B (4) and M-Woww (2) enjoyed creating with the colored rice and playing with it too. There are many different ways to color rice, click here to read our easy colored rice recipe. It is super easy but it does take overnight to dry so you do have to plan ahead. Using contact paper is a great way to create art with easy clean up. The rice that does spill (and there will be some) can easily be swept up. Scroll below to read the tutorial.

Easy Easter Craft for Kids Tutorial:

Step 1: Cut contact paper into an oval shape for the egg.

Step 2: Tape down the contact paper sticky side up to work surface.

Step 3: Pour rice on the contact paper. We used measuring cups and funnels to help pour the rice. Be sure to spread the rice around so that the rice sticks to the contact paper.

Step 4: Gently shake off the excess rice.

Step 5: We hung our rice colored eggs in the window as a sun catcher. The sunlight lit up the colored rice beautifully!

We love rainbow rice but I’d never thought to use it on cellophane. What a clever idea!
