Easy Fingerprint Ninjas: A Creative Drawing Idea for Kids

Use your fingerprint in a whole new way!

This creative drawing idea for kids mixes your own unique fingerprint, Ninja action and visual storytelling.

Visual storytelling conveys an idea or experience and tells a story through the use of pictures.

Encouraging your child to experiment and tell stories through their own pictures helps foster your child’s creative thinking skills.

Materials:

Inkpad (or make your own details below)

Finger

Markers

Correction Pen

How to make your own inkpad:

Place a sponge in a plastic container. Pour paint over the sponge until saturated. Let it the paint sit to soak in the sponge (or if you are impatient and short on time, flip the sponge over a couple of times until the paint has soaked in).

Tutorial:

Step 1: Ink your finger and press down on your paper. Repeat as necessary to create your ninja figure.

Step 2: Use markers to add details to your Ninja.

Use a white correction pen to draw an open space for the ninja mask and add two circles for the ninja’s eyes.

Questions to Ask:

What weapon is your Ninja using?

What is your Ninja’s special skill?

Who or what is your Ninja protecting?

Does your Ninja have any special powers?

Let your child be creative with their Ninja story. Remember it is the process of creating rather than the final product that is important.
