Lil B (6) and M-Wow (4) love find and search type of books, as you may remember from Lil B’s big laughing reaction to the book, Spot a Vehicle.
So, we were excited to review another search and find book titled, The Find It Book written by Margaret Wise Brown (who also is the author of Goodnight Moon) and illustrated by Lisa Sheehan.

The Find It Book incorporates finding your favorite nursery rhymes characters within beautiful illustrations. Lil B (6) and M-Woww (4) enjoyed searching and looking for the famous characters they recognized like the cow that jumped over the moon or finding Little Po Beep’s lost sheep!
Plus, the book was a great opportunity to review of some of our favorite nursery rhymes!
Lil B’s favorite nursery rhyme was Humpty Dumpty s while M-Woww enjoyed the 5 Little Monkeys.
Often times the books we read inspire our creative activities, like our read and draw art activity with The Nose that Knows.
This book with its fun and whimsical illustrations was great inspiration to come up with an activity to help foster and nurture my children’s creativity.
However, with just moving to a new city and state and starting the first week of Kindergarten and Preschool I knew we didn’t have time for a full “art” activity.
Life gets busy and often times as adults we feel that we must do an art project to help foster your child’s creativity. However, creativity is so much more than just art (in fact we wrote a whole post on this subject).
There are many “simple” ways to foster your child’s creativity with only a few minutes and no supplies needed!
I have found despite a busy family schedule that we are in the car a lot together! Riding together in the car is a great opportunity to connect, be silly and encourage creative thinking in your child.
So, the next morning on our way to school I prompted my young creative thinkers with asking them… what happens next?
Humpty Dumpty can’t be put back together again….so what happens?
The Doctor says to put the 5 little monkeys back to bed. What happens next to the little monkeys?
We took turns adding to what we think happened to Humpty Dumpty…
“He was swept up by a giant vacuum and swirled up to the sky” -Lil B (6)
Or what happened to the 5 Little Monkeys
“They did go back to bed but then were back jumping on the bed and they jumped so high they landed on the roof.” M-Woww (4)
Encouraging creative thinking does not have to require a lot of time or fancy art supplies. Simply ask your child…”What happens next”?
