Salt dough ornaments are an easy way to make some homemade ornaments for kids of all ages.
With my two kids being 4 and 2, I did have to remind them several times that we were not making cookies but rather ornaments.
You may wish to divide the project into 2 days, one day to make the ornaments and another day to decorate.
This recipe was adapted from allrecipes.com, (original recipe link here).
We used 4 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt, and 1 1/2 cups of warm water.
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
Mix together flour and salt.
Add water to the mix a little at a time. Knead until soft.
Roll out the dough and use cookie cutters to cut shapes.
Use a straw to poke a hole for your ornament. Don’t forget this step! I almost did.
Bake for 2 hours or until hard.
This recipe makes approximately 25 ornaments. Click here to view our easy way to decorate the ornaments (my favorite part)!
