Kids painting made easy! This DIY paint brush offers artists a fun technique and can be made with simple household materials. Sponge painting is a great way to let artists explore and mix colors in an exciting way. Both my two-year old and four-year old enjoyed painting with the sponge brush but I have also done this with children as old as 12 years old. It is about the process of the project not so much the final product of the painting. A different type of brush allows your artist to feel they can experiment and try something new from using a regular paint brush.
Materials:
Clothspin
Sponge
Scissors
Paint
Paper Plate
Easy Kids Painting Tutorial:
Step 1: Cut sponge
Step 2: Clip the sponge on to the end of the clothespin
Step 3: Pour paint
Step 4: Let your artist loose! This is a great way to let your artist enjoy the process and not worry about the end product. Let them have fun and create their own kids painting. Your artist can paint directly on the paper plate, canvas or paper. I recommend modeling how to get the sponge effect by stamping up and down with the clothespin but also let your artist use it how they want. My four-year old really wanted to paint with it like a regular paintbrush. He liked how it made big paint strokes on the paper.
