Materials:
Ribbon, String or Shoelace (You only need one)
Crayons or Colored Pencils
White Paper
Tutorial:
Step 1: Place the ribbon in center of your paper.
Step 2: Draw a line around the shape around your ribbon. Be sure to connect the end of your line to your starting point to enclose the shape.
Step 3: Turn your shape into a Monster. We added other shapes for more monster details. To dress up our monsters we used construction paper for the arms and legs. We cut rectangles and then folded the rectangle back and forth like an accordion fan to make it three dimensional. We also added a black outline to the details of our monster.
For Younger Artists: Talk about different “shapes” you see around the room or in nature.
For Older Artists: Discuss “free-form” shapes. These are organic shapes we see in nature and typically aren’t man-made.
