How To Create Your Own Slime Paint

Have you seen all the cool slime recipes on Pinterest? I thought to end our summer we should give it a try! I tend to come up with these ideas very last minute. We had a free afternoon and Jellybean was asleep so I thought lets try it. Turns out the only ingredients I had on hand were for a cornstarch recipe but I was excited to give it a try and show Lil B slime!

ALERT: SLIME FAIL

I could not get the right consistency but I was determined to make it work. It turned out either to runny or would break apart in pieces rather than be stretchy like slime (I later learned it was the type of slime we were making… it doesn’t get stretchy- next time we will try this easy slime recipe). While I was playing with the slime myself and it was running through my hands I thought this would look cool on paper. I grabbed some paper called Lil B and M-Woww over (they had given up on me and the slime) but I saved the day and we had fun action painting with the failed slime! Read our tutorial below.

Slime Painting

Materials:

Cornstarch

Water

Mixing Bowl

Spoon

Liquid Watercolors or Food Dye (optional)

Cardstock Paper

Tutorial:

Step 1: To make your paint slime, combine 2 cups of cornstarch to 1 cup of water. Mix and then add a little more water if so that it is liquidy (yes, this should be a word). Add a few drops of liquid watercolor or food dye if you wish to add color and stir. Slime Painting Step 2: Scoop a handful and let it drip from your fingers onto the paper. Full disclosure: Lil B and M-Woww preferred using a spoon to drip the slime paint. Step 3: Let the paint dry completely.

Step 4: Once dry the slime paint will start to crumble. Rub off the slime paint over a trash can. It should rub right off leaving a print behind in its place. This art project is about the process and exploring a new material. I do not guarantee this art project is a framer but it was a lot of fun! CLEAN UP: This project did get messy but the cornstarch slime wiped right up with a wet towel.
