This play idea is brought to you by Knoala – Raise Happier Kids. Knoala is a free app that offers activities for parents to enjoy with infants to preschoolers. As a busy mother of 3 children, all under the age of 5, things can get quite hectic around my home. Despite running around with a preschooler and a toddler, I like to make sure our newest member of the family, Jellybean (who is almost 2 months old), is also included in the family activities. I came across the free Knoala app and did a quick search of activities for Jellybean’s age. Using the app’s filters, I quickly found the activity for Tummy Practice. While we have already been doing some tummy time, the Knoala app had some great suggestions of adding entertainment to tummy time. Jellybean had not been the biggest fan of laying on her tummy, so taking the Knoala app’s suggestion, I added an activity to our routine to make her time more enjoyable. Babies love to look at things with strong contrast like black and white objects. I had some leftover black tape and white notecards laying around so I used these materials to create a little stand up tummy time accordion book for Jellybean. Her older brother and sister helped create the book so they could feel included as well. As you can see by Jellybean’s facial expressions above, she is fully enjoying the additional tummy time entertainment.

Create your own Tummy Time Book in 3 Easy Steps:
Materials:
2 White Notecards
Glue stick
Electrical Tape
Scissors
Tutorial:
Step 1: Glue the 2 notecards together to create your accordion book.
Step 2:. Cut the electrical tape into strips and place on the white cards creating a black and white pattern.
Step 3: . Place the accordion book in front of your baby for instant entertainment during tummy time.
Thanks to the Knoala App, tummy time is now more enjoyable for Jellybean. The app also has activities for my other two children (ages 4 & 2) as well. I love that I can filter by age, material or wherever we are (like stuck in traffic in the car). It is great having the app on my phone so I can pull it up fast when needed! I can’t wait to try more activities.
