Art journals are a great way for kids to explore and experiment with their own artwork. Journaling is one way art projects for kids can help inspire creative thinking and problem solving.
When you think of an art journal you may picture an elaborate painted art journals. While, those art journals are beautiful and inspirational it really isn’t realistic for my children. I want to give them an opportunity to draw when they feel inspired.
An art journal is a personal record of images and words.
This journal will be an open-ended visual diary that my young children will be able to explore how to make marks, draw shapes or anything else they desire. What I love best is there is no wrong way to use an art journal.
For this art journal we used a simple rubber band bookmaking method to create the journal It is an easy to make a book and you can make it any size.
For the cover of our art journal we recycled our watercolor/glue resist on sandpaper from our fun guest post over on In The Playroom. Be sure to hop over and see how we created the cover.
