How to Create a Story Bag

Once a upon a time…there was Tell It Thursday…. in our Hand Made Summer Fun series….

A story bag is not an original idea and there are many ways to do it but Lil B and M-Woww both love creating stories so I knew they would enjoy this activity. It was fun to see them think about their story and better yet hear the funny voices they used for their different characters. I also enjoyed seeing them collaborate together to create the story. Read how we did it below.

Materials:

Bag

Objects or Toys

Tutorial:

Step 1: Have 1 person collect as many objects in the bag as there are people.

Step 2: The person with the bag starts the story. They pull out one object and starts telling a story that includes the object.

Step 3: The next person pulls out an object from the bag and continues the first person’s story. They must include their object in the story. Keep going until all participants have had a turn. The last person concludes the story.

storybag_gather We did several rounds of story bag and took turns picking out objects to fill the bag.  Lil B carefully selected what objects he wanted to put in the bag. He thought about what would make a good story. This activity is a great way to listen to your child and helps develop their creative thinking!
