Our Hand Made Summer Fun series continues and this week our theme is “everything that flies”! Lil B has been into rockets lately so when I saw a tutorial on paper rockets I knew we had to try it. Read below for the tutorial we used and how we created our paper rockets.
We followed this tutorial to create our paper rockets. When working with young children, a lot of times you need to make the project quickly. Lil B heard the word “rocket” and instantly wanted to fly his rocket not draw it. To speed up the prep in making the rocket, we used scrapbook paper. Lil B and M-Woww each picked a piece of scrapbook paper that they liked and then we created the paper rockets using the tutorial. We also used a big straw to launch the rockets.
Keeping it Real:
This may be an activity we revisit when Lil B and M-Woww are a bit older. M-Woww could not blow hard enough to get her rocket to fly and Lil B could get his rocket to fly but not very far. However, they had lots of fun chasing the rockets I could launch. They would try to predict which rocket would travel the furthest (which is why we added numbers to them). Overall, it did work out but I recommend this activity for the elementary age and older.
