DIY Recycled STEAM Notebook

Create your own STEAM inspired notebook by recycling your old artwork into a unique journal or sketchbook!

The inclusion of the Arts to STEM (to make STEAM) is essential to our children’s future success. Teaching children how to think creatively and learning to be problem solvers is how we can prepare our children for the future. Learn more about STEAM here.

Recycled Art Journal A STEAM Activity for Kids

Materials:

Recycled Art Work

Paper

Hole Punch

Rubberband

Pencil

Straw

Tutorial:

Step 1: Fold your artwork and paper in half.

Step 2: Punch two holes along the folded edge of the artwork. Use the two holes as a guide to line up and punch two holes in the same spot on the remaining paper. Slide the white paper inside the folded artwork to create a book.

Step 3: From the back, insert the rubber band through each hole. Insert a straw through one loop of the rubber band and then through the other loop. Be sure to watch our tip in the video as to why we used a straw!

Let your imagination fill the pages of your new journal or sketchbook!  To incorporate STEAM activities with your new notebook, try our simple Math + Art drawing game.
