You’re in the right place. But before you hand your child a finished example to copy, try something first:

Ask them what they think their turkey should become.

The fun of the Turkey Disguise Project isn’t creating the “perfect” turkey. It’s giving kids a silly problem to solve:

How could you disguise this turkey so no one recognizes it for Thanksgiving dinner?

There isn’t one right answer. That’s the point.

Let the Kid Have the Idea

It’s tempting to start by scrolling through dozens of finished turkey disguises for inspiration.

Instead, give your child the turkey and the challenge first.

Ask:

Where could your turkey hide?
Who or what could it pretend to be?
What would make the disguise convincing?
What materials could you use?

Then give them some room to think.

Their first idea might be strange. Excellent!

They might change their mind halfway through. Even better.

The goal isn’t for every turkey to look Pinterest-worthy. The goal is for kids to practice having an idea of their own and figuring out how to make it work.
